
Sam Shi, PhD, serves as Vice President, Analytics for Elementum Advisors, LLC. Before joining the firm, Sam worked as a Lead Risk Modeler at Tokio Marine Technologies for over four years, providing scientific insights and innovative solutions on non-modeled or under-modeled natural catastrophe risks for various (re)insurance companies within the Tokio Marine Group. Prior to his career in the industry, Sam worked as a Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor in academia, with over ten years of research experience at the forefront of earthquake physics and computational seismology. His pioneering research on large-scale 3D earthquake rupture simulation was a key component of the project that won the 2015 Inaugural NVIDIA Global Impact Award. Sam earned a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Southern California and a BSc in Geophysics from Peking University.
